Our business units

We are a modern, medium-sized pharmaceutical company with more than 125 years of experience in manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products. Since the beginning of 2025, we have been owned by the Italian pharmaceutical company Polifarma S.p.A., which is part of the holding Final.

Our many years of success are based on four key strengths:

We are experts in the treatment of vertigo, sleep disorders and hypertension. In these indications we offer original products, among others.
We produce and sell a broad range of generic medicines, with a focus on cardiovascular, pain, metabolic, neurological and psychiatric indications, as well as erectile dysfunction.
In addition to prescription preparations, we offer an array of innovative health products for self-medication. The range of applications includes lice, warts, mosquito repellent and dietary supplements.
The fourth pillar comprises our contract manufacturing with modern production facilities, specialising in sophisticated products with the time-controlled release of active ingredients, e.g. sustained-release tablets.

The team at HENNIG ARZNEIMITTEL consists of 300 employees, around 70 of whom work in field sales, visiting hundreds of doctors and pharmacists across Germany every day.

Progress in the SME sector

HENNIG ARZNEIMITTEL is one of the 10,000 most significant small and medium-sized enterprises. Worldwide, the 'German Mittelstand' is a synonym for technological prowess, innovation and entrepreneurship.

One thing that all SMEs have in common is that ownership, performance and hope make them stronger and ensure consistency. They often specialise in certain products and establish a niche. SMEs also account for the vast majority of companies in Germany and for around 60% of all jobs. The 'German Mittelstand' ranges from small workshops to what are referred to as hidden champions – unknown companies that are market leaders in their respective industries. HENNIG ARZNEIMITTEL is proud to be part of this powerhouse of innovation.

Where did we come from?

It all started in Berlin. Chemist Max E. Hennig founded his company here in 1898 at the age of only 23. To begin with, all that he produced were tinctures made from organ and plant extracts. After the death of Max E. Hennig, Kurt Moschner, grandfather of the previous managing partners, took over the company and moved to Flörsheim in the Rhine-Main region in 1951. This is where the development of chemically synthesised pharmaceuticals began in the company's own laboratories. To this day, HENNIG ARZNEIMITTEL has remained a traditional family company, with its own on-site production facility in Flörsheim.

So far, four generations of owners have had a lasting impact on shaping the HENNIG ARZNEIMITTEL business. Every generation has had a particular focus, from which each of today's four company pillars has developed. In order to ensure the long-term survival of the company, 100 percent of the shares in Hennig Arzneimittel were sold to the Italian pharmaceutical company Polifarma on January 1, 2025. The two companies have already enjoyed a trusting business relationship for several years.
